The Gospel of John, The Period of Consummation, Part III, John 18:17,18 - Lesson 180
Read Verses John 18:17,18 for review: Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not. And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.
John records that you stood with the servants and the officers around a warm fire.
John also had recorded that Judas stood with them when Jesus asked "Whom seek ye?"
We too often deny the Lord as we seek the comforts of this world and stand around the warming fires of this world.
Peter you have denied the Lord once, two times remain.
As you stand with his enemies enjoying the benefits of his enemies will this stand gain you strength so you will not deny him twice more?
Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, Peter.
These servants and officers of the High priest are enemies of Christ and you have no business warming your hands at their fire.
Are we not to be with Christ without the camp bearing his reproach?
There are no warm fires of the world without the camp.
Its cold outside the camp and believers must solely depend on Christ to be warmed.
We are not to be warmed by the enticing fires of this world!
What results can you expect by depending on the warmth of the fires of this world?
A closer walk with Christ?
No! He is walking outside the camp not standing by the fires in the camp. |
