1. Lesson One of the Book of Daniel, Introduction to the Book of Daniel

The Gospel of John, The Period of Conference, The Last Supper, Part X, John 13:16,17 - Lesson 118

Read for review:  John 13:13-15,  Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.  For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

John 13:16  Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

Of a truth, of a truth.

Jesus Christ reminds his disciples that he who is the Lord of all does not think it beneath his dignity to perform this menial service for them.

If this is so then they should not think it beneath their dignity to do likewise for others.

If you or I think it beneath our dignity are we then thinking ourselves greater than Jesus Christ?

We ought not to think that we deserve any better treatment than our Lord, should we?

John 13:17,  If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

By this simple sentence Jesus Christ gives us an important principle of Christian living.

It is not enough to hear, to understand, to approve what is right; one must do it to be happy.

Knowing the will of God is not enough, it is the doing of the will of God.

As Matthew in:  Mat 7:21,  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
